Under the police report was a picture of her body before I had cut off her face and fingertips. Next to her were a metal pail and a box of matches. They never found anything but her body. There was no more evidence to be found, I made sure of that.
I fell back onto the bed and gripped the sheets tight. I wondered if they thought they might find Letum’s face. I knew the answer. No. Because I made sure it would never haunt me again.
